From 3bc27a71af8a262f6e4b49e191967eaa2ed3e11b Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: djm <> Date: Tue, 24 Aug 2010 23:49:06 +0000 Subject: [PATCH] backout VIS_HEX. guenther@ points out that the C89 \xff encoding idiotically accepts more then two hex digits following the \x, even on platforms where a char has 8 bits. It is therefore dangerous to have an almost-bit-not-quite compatible format in vis(3). The VIS_ALL (encode all characters) option introduced in the same commit remains. --- src/include/vis.h | 3 +-- 1 file changed, 1 insertion(+), 2 deletions(-) diff --git a/src/include/vis.h b/src/include/vis.h index 67fdfe86..5be397e8 100644 --- a/src/include/vis.h +++ b/src/include/vis.h @@ -1,4 +1,4 @@ -/* $OpenBSD: vis.h,v 1.12 2010/08/23 02:07:50 djm Exp $ */ +/* $OpenBSD: vis.h,v 1.13 2010/08/24 23:49:06 djm Exp $ */ /* $NetBSD: vis.h,v 1.4 1994/10/26 00:56:41 cgd Exp $ */ /*- @@ -40,7 +40,6 @@ */ #define VIS_OCTAL 0x01 /* use octal \ddd format */ #define VIS_CSTYLE 0x02 /* use \[nrft0..] where appropriate */ -#define VIS_HEX 0x200 /* use hex \xdd format */ /* * to alter set of characters encoded (default is to encode all
